A Whole New Mind

I just wanted to recommend to all educators this wonderful and inciteful book. It was recommended to me by a colleague and it's my turn to pass it on. It is "A Whole New Mind" by Daniel Pink. It talks about the right-brainers and how now it is there time. It makes so much sense and it will awaken that side of your brain and make you aware of how this could and should affect education.

I have a new awareness and support of what I believe in. Definitely a must read.

In reference to computer technology, it seems to me that those born before 1970 are the tourists and those born after 1970 are the natives in the land of hardware and software applications. Teacher Tenure and Student Data

Chapter 57 of the Laws of 2007 stipulates that New York State teachers cannot be awarded tenure unless they successfully use student performance data (including, but not limited to, performance on state assessments) to guide their instruction. A 2008 amendment to Chapter 57 prohibits districts from using test scores to evaluate teachers, while maintaining the requirement that teachers use test scores to improve instruction.
