Wouldn't you confidently predict that our Education Establishment is full of people who spend a lot of time complaining about imperialism. They do this because they are smugly confident that it's Other People who commit this crime, and especially the United States.

But what after all is imperialism but trying to tell everybody else what to do. Not just tell them but make them.

And who does all that more than our own Education Establishment??

I suppose there are many who still hope that Common Core is just a bouquet of roses and a box of chocolates. I fear not. It's for sure another straitjacket on education but perhaps worse than the ones before because 1) it's more comprehensive and 2) it's full of some really awful ideas.

If you already know the things I'm saying, then I don't need to persuade you. But I'm always aware that many people are probably thinking, what's all this?

So I have to repeat the main point: you can't teach children to read with sight-words but our elite educators insisted on trying for 75 years. You can't  quickly teach people to do arithmetic with any variety of Reform Math but children are still being abused with Everyday Math, etc.. You won't teach much basic information with Constructivism but it's more and more dominant.

We see a sinister disregard of common sense, or an actual desire to make sure children don't learn much. That's the tradition that Common Core continues and makes worse.
