Seems the country is starting to feel the same way.

Here's a round-up of seven pundits and columnists, all explaining why people might be against Common Core.

People supporting this thing can read it and understand why they may be on the losing side.

People opposed to Common Core can read these developments with some satisfaction. It appears that  Americans are getting smarter. They are really looking at this thing.

On a personal note, I was amazed when CCC was first pushed at Virginia, four years ago. All the powers that be supported it. Basically, everybody drank the Kool-Aid. Common Core was made deliberately elaborate and dense, so it is almost impossible for people to understand it. They were simply supposed to approve it.

My main thought was very simple-minded. The Education Establishment in this country hasn't tried to do a good job in 50 years. Why are they suddenly going to change overnight and create something valuable???

Suppose you really do want to improve public education in this country. The first thing you do is to make sure that kids learn reading, writing and arithmetic in the first four years. Same as it ever was! You do not need a fancy new federal power grab. You just have to take care of the basics. it was like that 1000 years ago, 100 years ago, 5 years ago when Obama came in, and still true today. Rhetoric and propaganda aside, there was no special provision in Common Core to improve any of these areas. That was all I needed to know.

In fact, this round-up mentions Kentucky, which was one of the first states to adopt Common Core. Their reading scores have dropped.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
