What kind do you want? Many reformers deal with bureaucratic, financial, theoretical, and window-dressing stuff that  probably won’t change very much. Bill Gates thought that making all the schools small would save the system. It made no difference. See what I mean?

My theory is that we can improve the schools ONLY by dealing with the rot at the heart of the system. That would be the dysfunctional theories and methods that govern how all of education takes place. Generally speaking, you can’t teach kids to read with sight-words, you can’t teach kids to do arithmetic with Reform Math, you can’t teach American History with constructivism, etc., etc., etc.

You can pretend to do these things. You can go through the motions. But each year all of our stats and anecdotal evidence will show that we are sinking deeper into mediocrity.

If parents and community leaders understood what is being done to their children, we would throw all this noxious stuff out, schools would  quickly get better, and we would have a Renaissance.

Anyway, I’m the second sort of reformer, as is clear in the annual press release for Improve-Education.org and me.

Interested in substantial reform? Take a look. It's short.
