We all like lists, especially if they are short and to the point. Here's a good example:

You can easily write a book about each of these points. Or a long essay. It's easy to get lost in these more comprehensive statements.
This little article is more like a roadmap or diagram of what we are up against.
Specifically, we are up against the bad tendencies you can easily see in the classroom. And we are up against the broader structural configurations (these are not so easy to see) that make all the bad tendencies possible.
This is a to-do list for school reform.
