The Institute held at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, July 30-August 2, 2012, is designed this year to be more responsive to the educational realities of 2012.

It is time to...

  • Focus foremost on the learner and the learning process
  • Create curriculum and instruction that shifts the cognitive load from teacher to student
  • Create curriculum and instruction that will prepare young people to live well and contribute positively to our modern world, and
  • Cultivate the capacities most needed to do be able to do so, emphasizing:
  1. Enduring understandings that transcend content
  2. Creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving
  3. Self-knowledge and self-refection
  4. Collaboration and teamwork
  5. Communication and literacy
  6. Empathy & Tolerance

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and
