Main revelation (in linked article) is that Sight-words (also known as Whole Language, etc.) is more destructive of boys than of girls. Could you guess why?
Boys by large are confident and cocky. They can climb up on a roof and then jump off the roof. But what if you put something in front of them, an obstacle, that keeps them from ever climbing up on the roof. They will be frustrated and irritable.
Girls, meanwhile, are more patient, more accommodating, more concerned with the group being successful. So if you put an obstacle in front of them, they will make the best of it.
Now the problem with Sight-words is that it’s humanly impossible (for most humans) to memorize thousands of words as graphic designs. The whole thing is a fraud. You might do 100 or even 200 but by the second, third, and fourth grades, the majority of children will bog down. Girls try to tolerate this. Boys take the attitude that they’ll try for a while, and then they will drop out. It's a matter of pride. If the school is doing something that makes you feel dumb and inadequate day after day, you’re finally going to react: I refuse to participate, go to hell.
So what we have here is a differential attack on children, more harsh on boys, more forgiving on girls. Isn’t this amazing? I doubt anyone saw this early on but by the 1940s and 1950s there was definitely a lag in the reading statistics for boys. In fact, many people said girls are more verbal. Now I suspect they are not. Teach boys and girls with the same phonics program, you will find there are as many good boy readers as girl readers.
In addition to all of the above, the typical school piles on by assigning books to boys that boys are known to hate. These are sometimes called chick lit.
I hope all of you will think about this and ask other people about it and discuss it. This abuse has been going on for decades right in front of us. Boys were victims of a huge dirty trick. I think people of good conscience will do what they can to stop this abuse.

Elsewhere, I sum up the dirty trick this way: "First, make the Boys illiterate. More than any other thing, this is why you have, at the college level, 57% female but only 43% male. This is social engineering at an almost cosmic level, and for me, evil at an almost cosmic level."
I believe these patterns repeat themselves in Common Core. The elementary school math is so idiotic that children cry and moan. Boys respond the way any normal person would respond to something illogical and incoherent.
