A Network Connecting School Leaders From Around The Globe
Albert Lynd published his marvelous book attacking the Education Establishment in 1953. He is one of our smartest education critics. He explains each weird thing the professors are doing.
The bad news is that everything he talks about is still going on today. The dumbing down of the public schools was already half-accomplished 60 years ago when he wrote "Quackery in the Public Schools." But the experts in charge never let up.
I just posted a compilation of 18 quotes from his book, here: http://www.examiner.com/article/quackery-the-public-schools-a-tribute

Lynd analyzes in particular how the professors turned education into a lucrative business for themselves. They created thousands of more or less empty courses and then required all prospective teachers to take them, not just in college and grad school but during summers and on weekends forever thereafter.
All of this bombast displaced real education in the lives of teachers, who were thereby prepared to displace real education in the lives of their students.
If everyone in education read this book, I suspect our problems would disappear. Everybody would be keenly aware of bad practice and try to avoid it. The people committing malpractice would be so self-conscious they would cease-and-desist. Well, I can dream.

PS: This little blog post has a serious omission, namely, that Albert Lynd is a funny guy, dry but very funny. It's like watching Muhammad Ali stick and move.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource
Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and
other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching
practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
