Hi Sue,

I couldn't agree with you more!  I have been training on Moodle for 8 or 9 years now and think students learn unique skills when taking working online.  I didn't know that Michigan suggested an online course prior to graduation but I would LOVE to see NY REQUIRE one!  Over and over again I've seen students who participated in online communities in high school come back after graduation saying that they felt they were a step ahead of their peers.  I've been told that they were expected to know how to utilize discussion forums, not just the logistics of a forum but the correct type of answers / conversation that only comes from participation.  We need to prepare our students for college but in order to do that we need to get more administrators on board.

I'm all for a LI Online Learning Conference, Lets start one!

We'll launch our first Elluminate session this evening on School Leadership 2.0 .  Using your model, we will start at 7 PM but we will run two hours.  Bill Brennan and I are excited about this possibility.  I'll stay in touch.

Hi Carmella,

I've been training on Moodle for about 9 years now, I have several courses designed to assist teachers in creating online courses.  I also found that teachers are receptive to training at night, nothing like learning with a glass of wine!  Not me of course.... :)

Where do you work?  Maybe we can get a project going between schools!

I am interested in making contact with other people who are doing professional development online. I am presently teaching a course "Online Teaching and Facilitating" that is designed to help teachers to become online teachers. I am developing a course right  now "Moddle for Teachers" which is a course on the nuts and bolts of running a course.

Our school district is also using Elluminate for teacher training. This way teachers can get training via a webinar and not have to travel to a site. Our most popular sessions have been at 7:00 or 7:30 pm. Teachers like being at home in the evening and doing short professional development webin ars. We have tried different times of day to run the webinar and the evening time is the most popular. The sessions are limited to one hour.
