Pre-College Art Program for 
High School Students
at Molloy College

Fall 2014 Courses

The Mol­loy College Art Department offers two pre-college,Saturday portfolio development classes to mature, moti­vated, junior and senior high school students in:

 

*Introduction to Life Drawing
*Introduction to Digital Design

Each course runs for eight sessions on Saturdays and are offered every fall and spring semester at our Rockville Centre campus. Course descriptions can be found below.  

The tuition for each of these eight week courses of study is $200. Call for additional information and a personal portfolio review (for need-based financial aid/scholar­ship consideration) with our Art Depart­ment Chairperson, Leonard Antinori, at 516 323-3185 or by email at: lantinori@molloy.edu 

The Molloy College Art Department is located in the Wilbur Arts Center Room 211.

Introduction to Life Drawing*

An eight week drawing course specifically designed for motivated high school students interested in developing a successful Fine Arts portfolio for college admissions requirements. The curriculum will encompass figure studies (clothed and nude models*) and self-portraiture introducing a variety of drawing techniques and media, within an Art Historical context. Students will be required to bring their stiff, large portfolio case since most of the sup­plies will be distributed in class and is included in the tuition. Homework will be assigned to promote maximum developmental improvement as well as additional portfolio pieces. 

 *Because of the use of a nude model after the first or second class, all students are required to have a signed permission slip from their parents/guardians. The permission slip will be given out in the first class.

Introduction to Digital Design

An eight week basic exploration into the digital art possibilities of Adobe Creative Suite 6 software such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. The cur­riculum will incorporate the use of Wacom drawing tablets through creative digital projects ranging from photo manipulation, illustrations, logotypes and poster designs. The history of digital design will be incorporated into class assignments and lectures.

Registration
Students should register for classes at least one week prior to the start of classes to insure enough time for you to get your confirmation and parking permit. Please note that some of our classes do close out and some of our classes do cancel, so you may be taking a chance of not getting into the course of your choice by waiting.
