WNET OFFERS NEW LEADERSHIP TRAINING VIDEOS FOR EDUCATORS

"Critical Conversations About School Leadership" now available for FREE on PBS Learning Media

July 16 -- WNET today is launching a new collection of video resources targeted at school principals and the people who train and support them. The free collection includes 55 short, instructive and inspirational video segments thematically organized into media galleries focused on building a corps of highly skilled principal candidates and supporting them once they're on the job.

The videos feature discussions among new and experienced principals as well as state, district and national leaders about such critical topics as the skills and qualities of a good principal, principal empowerment, and the complex and evolving nature of the principalship.

The videos are based on a series of dynamic conversations held across the country last fall by top education leaders about the unique position of principals to improve teaching and learning and make a difference in the lives of all children.

With funding from The Wallace Foundation, these conversations have been organized into a series of short videos entitled "Critical Conversations about School Leadership," designed to help shape conversations among policy makers, state and district leaders, training providers, aspiring leaders, and others around the importance of school leadership and how it can best be developed.

"Educators in cities across the country want to ensure that schools are well led by outstanding principals," says Carole Wacey, Vice President of Education at WNET in New York. "Video is a powerful tool to spark discussion by a wide audience, and we are grateful to the Wallace Foundation for enabling us to make these short, focused videos available for free 24 hours a day, 365 days a year."

"Above all other priorities, today's principals must be their schools' chief improvement officers, but they need better training and on-the-job support to do this effectively," says Jessica Schwartz, senior communications officer at Wallace. "We believe this new video collection, which we hope will grow and develop over time, will help principals and those who train and supervise them have the right conversations."

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
