The Educational Experience of Young Men of Color: A Review of Research, Pathways and Progress

On the week of June 20, the College Board Advocacy & Policy Center hosted two consecutive events with the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and with the Congressional Black Caucus, Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, Congressional Hispanic Caucus and Congressional Native American Caucus at Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. to mark the official release of two new reports: The Educational Experience of Young Men of Color: A Review of Research, Pathways and Progress and Capturing the Student Voice. These reports come alive through a dynamic website that combines data and research with findings from in-depth student interviews featured through video storytelling.

The reports provide the most comprehensive data, research findings and recommendations to date to improve the educational experiences and pathways of young men of color. The qualitative research study, conducted in collaboration with the Business Innovation Factory, provides findings from 92 in-depth personal student interviews that are captured through video storytelling. Together, these resources provide a compelling narrative that tracks the progress and pitfalls for young men of color from high school through college. In addition, the College Board Advocacy & Policy Center collaborated with EducationCounsel for a policy brief on the federal legal implications associated with educational strategies and programs designed to promote sound solutions for young men of color.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
