Read What Teachers Have to Say About Barriers to Student Learning
New report on teachers' ideas to improve student learning

The College Board believes in the power and commitment of teachers. In support of their work, the College Board Advocacy & Policy Center has released the seventh installment in our Teachers Are the Center of Education/Teacher Voices series, Teachers Talk About Some of the Big Problems They Face in the Classroom and How These Impede Student Learning.

This report is written by practicing classroom teachers and is based on interviews with their colleagues. It provides an overview of some issues they identify as barriers to student learning — including class size, lack of family support and involvement, absenteeism, plagiarism and lack of resources — and offers suggestions for overcoming them.

This report adds to the literature about school reform. With the active voices of teachers to help guide the conversation, we can improve student learning.
