Summer Reading

Congratulations, you made it!  We are hoping that July and August find you away from your computer and bring you some beach, pool, hiking, or curled up in a chair with good reading materials time. Since “beach reading” should be on your agenda wherever you are, you will find the current top five books on the New York Times Best-Seller Lists (fiction and non-fiction) plus a few others that look interesting to us. If you can’t figure out which books to choose, why not treat yourself to a couple of hours wandering around a book store exploring books and magazines while sipping a cup of your favorite coffee.

When you are ready to turn your focus to planning for the 2021-2022 school year, the Just ASK 2021 Summer Reading List we are sharing with you this month features the all-time most read issues of five Just ASK newsletters and briefs as well as other Just ASK web-based resources such as The Mentoring Resource Collection and The Distance Learning Collection, links to related readings, video clips, reproducible PDFs, and a couple of PowerPoint shows. You don’t want to miss this extraordinary library of our most popular newsletter issues!

The 2021 Mentor’s Opening of School Checklist and the 2021 Just for the ASKing! Opening of School Checklist will be released in late July. Keep an eye out for those checklists so that you can join the thousands of educators who have been using these annual checklists over the last 16 years.

Be sure to find time to rest, rejuvenate, and read!

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
