Turning math students into a team invested in each other's achievement is one part of a process elevating math scores at Northside Middle School in Virginia, officials say. Teacher-led tutoring and double-length math classes also have helped students recover from a 19 percentage point plunge in math proficiency scores between 2019 and 2021, reaching the pre-pandemic 87% in 2022.
