“Encouraging Girls in Math and Science” provides five recommendations for specific classroom practices that can help girls to feel more confident in their math and science abilities and to consider career paths in math- and science-related fields. These include explicitly teaching students that academic abilities are expandable, not fixed; providing students with prescriptive, informational feedback on their performance; and choosing math and science activities that do not reinforce gender stereotypes. Visit IES to learn more about Practice Guides.
