Gallup Student Poll

The longer most students stay in school, the less engaged they become. In 2013, Gallup discovered a disturbing trend that 76% of elementary school students were engaged, compared with 60% of middle school students and only 43% of high school students.

Gallup can help schools reverse this unsettling trend through our Gallup Student Poll, which today more than 2 million students and 2,000 schools have participated in. Launched in 2009, the Gallup Student Poll gives America's youth a voice to express the opportunities and challenges in their daily lives. When students know what they do best and have opportunities to develop those talents, they are more motivated and enthusiastic about learning, and are more likely to be engaged.

Mission

The Gallup Student Poll is more than a series of questions. It equips teachers, administrators, and community leaders with actionable data to improve student and school performance. The poll measures elements that have been proven to impact grades, achievement scores, retention, and future employment.

A Look at the Gallup Student Poll

The Gallup Student Poll is offered once every fall -- at no cost -- to U.S. public school students in grades 5 through 12. This Web-based survey is available in English and Spanish and takes most students 10 minutes to complete. Students are asked several demographic questions as well as 20 core questions about what they do, how they think, and how they feel about their home, school, and community life.

Gallup administers the poll and then aggregates and analyzes the data. Individual survey results are completely confidential and under no circumstances will Gallup reveal any student's personal responses. On our national reporting day (typically two weeks after the survey closes), we provide each school and district with an online scorecard that includes that school's or district's high-level scores.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
