Are investments in online, on-demand tutoring working?

There's little evidence to suggest that online tutoring services are effectively helping students recover from learning loss resulting from pandemic-related school closures. The low uptake of on-demand tutoring among students and questions about its effectiveness with struggling learners are raising concerns, leading experts to suggest that school resources may be better invested in small-group tutoring programs.
