Event Description

No matter the particular students we work with, we all see the need for opportunities to develop and practice pro-social skills such as empathy, positive communication, responsible decision-making, and self-regulation. There are many ways to address this need, and one that has received many kudos from educators and from student and adult participants alike is through participation in challenge course programs (commonly known as "Project Adventure").

New York State Standards list Social Emotional Development and Literacy Guidelines for schools, and the recent Dignity for All Students Act mandate that schools address this topic and develop a best-practices plan to combat bullying and provide a safe environment for all students. Teambuilding activities are pro-active rather than re-active in creating that safe environment.

This workshop shows how teambuilding activities give participants hands-on, real-life (and dare I say fun and engaging) practice with pro-social skills. See our website for complete information. The workshop is also listed on My Learning Plan.

If you cannot attend yourself, please send a staff member or two to participate and to bring the benefits of these activities back to your school environment. Please contact Mary Watros (mwatros@mail.nasboces.org) if you have any questions.
