Event Description

The Long Island Connected Educators' Meet-up is a FREE learning event that allows passionate educators to spread innovative ideas through formal & informal conversation and collaboration.  Our goal is to assemble forward-thinking and passionate classroom teachers, classroom teacher leaders, parents/community members – anyone interested in K-12 education – for a day of conversation, reflection and inspiration. Join us at Weldon E. Howitt Middle School in the Farmingdale School District Saturday, April 5, 2014.  See you there!

Opening:
The Meet-up will be open, not by a keynote speaker, but a conversation between participant’s. Facilitated by Bill and Tony, the opening conversation will invite participants to engage in conversation addressing key questions/ideas in education.

Session 1, & 2: This Meet-up is unique in terms of format.  We are offering two formats for presenters, the traditional presentation (45 minutes) and conversation format (45 minutes).

Session 3: The "Un-Conference" Experience
Some of the most powerful learning takes place informally. Between sessions 2 and 3, participants will build the schedule for final session. Have an idea you want to talk about? Why not stand-up and go for it.

Closing:  The Meet-up will be closed, not by a keynote speaker, but a closing conversation that invites every participant’s perspective and voice. The closing conversation will involve participants engaged in conversation addressing questions or concerns that have arisen as a result of being the first LI Connected Educators' Meet-up.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
