Event Description

Internet Safety and Bullying Prevention Conference

Thursday, December 2, 2010 – 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Hofstra University
Sondra and David S. Mack Student Center, North Campus

KEYNOTE SPEAKER:
The keynote speaker will be John Halligan, father of Ryan Patrick Halligan, a Vermont middle school student who committed suicide in 2003 after being a victim of both school and cyber bullying. Mr. Halligan’s message is relevant, necessary, and compelling. He has the ability to capture the audience and communicate the critical importance of taking responsibility for one’s actions as well as seeking assistance from qualified adults when situations become too difficult for students to handle. His material is current, his statistics are accurate, and his knowledge about teen utilization of the Internet and its dangers is poignant. His presentation calls adults to action in order to prevent future tragedies.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
