Conference Description:

The goal will be for participants to engage in exercises that support conversation  between teachers and their evaluators about teaching English learners. Participants will learn ways to address English language proficiency, appropriate scaffolds and  assessments with the goal of improving outcomes for linguistically diverse learners. (7 CTLEs Offered!)

     Key activities and outcomes of the conference:

• Scenarios of English learners -- to present the diversity of English learners, non-monolithic group, long-term ELs, ELs with learning disabilities, Refugee ELs etc.
• Review of teacher evaluation rubrics -- to evaluate the extent to which diverse learners and appropriate teaching strategies for diverse learners are evident within teacher evaluation rubrics. Then discuss ways to work within current evaluation systems in order to be more inclusive.
• Conversation starters / frames that support collaboration -- to practice conversations to support dialog between teachers and their evaluators.
• Action Plan -- to create a short plan of action / application to the participant's particular teaching context.
