UPDATE: Afternoon keynote speaker: Rebecca Cort, NYS Associate Commissioner of Special Education
Each day educators make important decisions about the structure and effectiveness of students’ educational programs. The Response to Intervention (RtI) framework is an important educational strategy to use data regarding students’ response to instruction to determine future education needs. It is a proactive concept of early interventions matched to students’ needs.
On Friday, October 14, 2011, Eastern Suffolk BOCES Regional Networks, in partnership with Hofstra University, will present “Designing Interventions That Match Student Needs: Assessing Students’ Response to Instruction Leads to More Effective Classrooms,” with keynote speaker Dr. John Hintze (University of Massachusetts, Amherst).
This Forum will provide participants with information and opportunities for reflection and discussion about how RtI can be effectively implemented and operationalized in order to ensure that students are reliably and effectively provided the “right assistance at the right time.” National experts will provide practical information and resources in presentations such as “The Role of Assessment within the RtI Framework,” “Tiered Interventions and RtI in High Schools: Preliminary ‘Lessons Learned’,” and “A Road Map to RtI: Effective Tools for Successfully Implementing RtI.”
