The ratio of students to school counselors was 408 to 1 in the 2021-22 school year, down from 415 to 1 in the prior school year, data from the American School Counselor Association shows. In this interview, Jill Cook, executive director of ASCA, discusses the year-over-year improvement, driven in part by pandemic relief funding and increasing awareness of the youth mental health crisis.
