Dr. Michael Hynes is the Superintendent of Schools for the Patchogue Medford School District. Prior to working in Patchogue-Medford, Dr. Hynes served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Shelter Island School District, the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Plainedge School District, elementary principal in the Center Moriches School District and middle school principal and classroom teacher for the South Country School District. Dr. Hynes is also an adjunct assistant professor for Dowling College teaching courses in School Law, Curriculum and Instruction and School Leadership and has published numerous articles and podcasts on school leadership and his belief in public education.
Dr. Hynes resides in Sayville with his wife and four children. He graduated from Bethany College in West Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He received his master’s degree in Elementary Education, his Professional Diploma in School District Administration and doctorate in Educational Administration from Dowling College. Dr. Hynes also received his educational training from New York University, Stony Brook University and Harvard University in the areas of School Leadership, School Business Affairs and Organizational Learning.
