Interestingly enough, comedian Louis C.K. recently performed an "online experiment," where he sold a video of one of his recent performances directly to fans for just $5 a pop. He cut out all middle men, commissions, etc, and all of their accompanying DRM, file encoding, and other protection schemes, yet managed to gross $1 million in just less than two weeks.
