David Jakes is the Director of Learning Spaces for EdTechTeam and leads the Learning Space Design Studio. The Studio, created to support schools in developing compelling and engaging learning environments , is the most recent addition to the comprehensive services offered by EdTechTeam.
David is a veteran educator and has almost three decades of experience as a classroom teacher, administrator, and educational technologist. Most recently, David was a Digital Designer and Strategist for The Third Teacher+, a design consultancy within the international architecture firm of CannonDesign. In this capacity, David led and supported a variety of educational design projects in both higher education and K-12 education, which included working with both public and independent schools. This worked ranged from the redesign of classroom spaces to the design of new schools and the development of campus master plans. David’s specialty with The Third Teacher+ was community engagement and the development of the design guidelines that enabled the client’s vision of learning to be reflected in the design of new spaces. Beyond spatial redesign, David works with organizations to provide professional development around learning spaces and design thinking, and helps schools develop the mindset required to effect organizational change.
David has worked with the University of Idaho and Winona State University, the Westminster Schools and The Lovett School in Atlanta, St. Francis Xavier and The Beacon Academy in Chicago, St. Francis in Washington, D.C., the Waukee Community Schools in Waukee, Iowa and the Rockford Public Schools in Rockford, IL, among others.
David continues this work with EdTechTeam by blending his teaching, technology, leadership, and design experience with the full range of services provided by EdTechTeam to truly create a unique value-added experience for schools.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
