One of the most enjoyable parts of my job as an administrator is visiting classes.  Today I was so impressed with what I saw and learned, that I wrote a note to the class.  I share that note below.

Ms. Babcock’s first period class:
I wanted to thank you all for teaching me today.  As a teacher turned administrator I am always a student at heart, and would like to express my gratitude to your class for making me a better person today.  I entered your small class  and heard students reading poetry, witnessed a book on each desk and heard you answer thought provoking questions from your amazing teacher.  I just wanted to share with you what I learned today by visiting your class:
  • Young kids can chose and recite amazing poetry about things they feel strongly about.
  • When given just 2 minutes, students can put on paper the most sincere, emotional and inspirational thoughts about something dare to them.
  • When students are provided a caring, compassionate and passionate teacher, they will engage and produce magnificent discussion and dialogue.
  • When an administrator enters a class and is greeted with warm smiles and a seat within the group, he feels welcome and proud!
I am encouraged by my visit to your class that the love of reading, writing and healthy discussion is alive and well in our school.  Your class has motivated and inspired me, thank you!
