Smoking Process
Smoking is a process that gives flavour to meat and helps preserve it longer. Manual smoking of meat, like smoking it out somewhere with wood and just hanging it above the smoke is a bit tiring, because you still have to monitor if the wood is already all used up, and if the meat is still properly hanging. Using an electric smoker save less monitoring time and helps you smoke meats with ease. on how to smoke meat with e-smoker.
Procedure
1. Decide which e-smoker you need to use- there are mainly 2 types of e-smokers. The Vertical water e-smoker is an inexpensive type of smoker that works well in warm weather but can’t do as much in cold weather. If you are smoking meat on hot weather, use this one. The second type is the Electric Cabinet Smoker that looks like a refrigerator. E-Smokers come with temperature gauge so you can just control the smoker’s temperature.
2. Read the manual- there are different models of e-smokers, so you should carefully understand what your e-smoker’s model requires you to do.
3. Follow instructions in how to cure your new e-smoker- Curing your smoker is necessary. This process removes dust, odor and solvents. You can coat the racks of your smoker with cooking oil and turn it on and let it run for at least 120 minutes. Let the smoker cool by opening the hood after letting it run.
4. Prepare the meat you need to cook.
5. After adding seasoning in the meat, let it sit overnight to help absorb the desired flavour.
6. Turn your e-smoker on- if your smoker has a water container, add water in it.
7. Get some wood chips- if you don’t have one, you can buy in the grocery store or online. You need at least 4-5 cups of wood chips if you are going to smoke meat for 3-6 hours with your e-smoker.
8. Check e-smoker’s temperature- adjust the internal temperature and wait until the smoker’s desired temperature is reached before you smoke the meat.
9. Put meat in the rack- Smoke the meat until tender and you can check if the meat is done by inserting a thermometer in the meat’s centre.
10. Preserving is more fun if little effort is needed. Have fun with smoking your meat!
