Ultimate Guide to Online Geography Resources for Educators

"Geography is important for students to learn, starting at a young age, because it provides them with perspective on diversity—that nations and people differ yet have similarities.

It’s also one of the most engaging subjects for students, as there are many interactive lessons and resources for teachers to utilize and apply in their classrooms. From having students name and locate all of the state capital cities on a map to learning about a foreign nation’s political system, geography can be made fun and engaging for students by applying the lesson plans. Check out this online geography resource for educators, created by Norwich University, to learn more."

Somebody left an interesting comment on one of my articles.... He was taught geography by nuns, many years ago. He mentioned that there were endless competitions, sometimes boys against girls, sometimes A-B against V-Z. He said the children loved competitions and took great pride in doing well. This  person also commented that they built  3-D models, from plaster of Paris or newspapers or whatever, of shorelines, ports, mountains, any natural features. Such that many years later he remembered these features with great exactness..... Also, many competition started off with every student standing. When somebody missed a question, they had to sit down. The goal was to be the last person standing. But I particularly like that feature of standing up. We need to put more physical activity into intellectual activities. My impression is that these days children don't learn geography. So I say use the nuns' techniques.
