Managers can show they are really listening by summarizing a conversation with these words: "Here's what I think you want me to know about this," writes Steve Cooper, a co-founder of Excella. "Demonstrate that you understand what is being conveyed, as well as read between the lines to embrace the passion and sense of ownership that the other person has for their idea," he argues.
