Wanting to fit in is not a new phenomenon in the middle grades, writes learning specialist Valentina Gonzalez. Most adolescents experience the urge to be more like their peers. The earlier kids realize how valuable their identity is and how to use their individuality to their own advantage, the better off they will be.
