"Easy" is a four-letter word that should be eliminated from teachers' vocabularies, according to Holly Hagman, an English teacher. In this article, Hagman writes that the term can set students up to feel bad and lose confidence when the work is anything but easy for them, so she suggests alternatives, such as urging the student to practice.
