Should more schools eliminate summer break?
About 4% of schools in the US operate on a year-round calendar, which advocates say benefits students from low-income families and curbs summer learning loss. David Hornak, head of the National Association for Year-Round Education, says the benefits of the schedule outweigh the costs, such as expenses related to summer air conditioning and the logistics of scheduling sports.
