A Network Connecting School Leaders From Around The Globe
My friend, Joe Dragone, who has had a rich career as a school administrator in many districts, contributed the thoughts below, which I think can serve as important lessons for all of us. Joe is well-known to the Long Island school community as a skilled administrator, forceful advocate for public education, and just a great decent human being. Joe credits his source as "The Daily Coach."
· Every day is a gift. Rise with gratitude, aware that life is fragile and fleeting. Let this awareness sharpen your courage and joy. · Time is precious. Guard your hours as if they were treasure. Spend them on what aligns with your deepest values. · Gratitude turns scarcity into sufficiency. What you already have is enough if you choose to see it. Contentment is the truest form of wealth. · Joy isn’t in things. Possessions fade, but the harmony of your thoughts, the virtue of your actions, and the warmth of relationships endure. · Love without hesitation. We are made for connection. Give freely of yourself, for tomorrow is never promised. · Forgiveness frees you more than the one you forgive. Anger chains the soul. Release it and reclaim your peace. |
· Adversity is an experience, not a final act. · Learning to succeed begins with learning to fail. · Mental toughness is the ability to see the bright side of a hopeless situation. |
· Comparison steals joy. Your path is yours alone. Measure your progress not by others but by your own growth. · Fear shrinks when faced. Courage is not the absence of fear, but the choice to act rightly in spite of it. · You can’t control the storm, but you can choose how to stand in it. Life’s chaos is beyond your command, but your mind and actions are always within your care. · Success without integrity is failure in disguise. What does it profit to gain recognition or riches if you forfeit your character? · Small, consistent acts of kindness create ripples greater than grand gestures. Each just and compassionate act strengthens the world around you. · The greatest leaders serve. True power is not found in control over others but in mastery of self and service to the whole. |

Magic Question |
At the end of it all, the question won’t be ‘What did you achieve?’ but ‘How deeply did you love?’ |

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource
Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and
other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching
practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
