Eighth-grade teacher Kasey Short in this blog post offers ideas for starting this school year with some literacy preassessments to determine where students are in areas such as writing, grammar and reading. She also notes that she is preparing by gathering information from seventh-grade teachers to see where students left off last year and what challenges they faced during remote learning in the spring.
