How should poverty be measured by schools?
The number of students who receive free or reduced-price school meals traditionally is used to count the number of students living in poverty. Some experts say this data -- used to direct some state and federal school funding -- may be inaccurate, as the qualifications for subsidized meals has changed and some qualified students may not be enrolled in the program.
