- Tell our School Leadership 2.0 community a little bit about yourself. Feel free to post your email address and website. Also feel free to list your areas of interest. This will help other members dialogue with you.
- I am teacher, researcher and activist who has spent her life working with families, communities and schools in urban, suburban and rural settings, both in the U.S. and in global contexts. Much of my work is now open access on my website DennyTaylor.com. For the past twelve years my research has focused on the impact of catastrophic events on the lives of children and their families. I was a first responder in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and have spent time with families in the Middle East living in areas of armed conflict. At the present time my work focuses on the systemic failure of institutions in the U.S. and in global contexts, with specific emphasis on U.S. public K-12 school. I regard the undemocratic monetization and privatization of U.S. public schools as a national catastrophe that has global implications for the future of human societies. We have reached a tipping point that makes it imperative that we resist. There is nothing that can happen to us that compares with what will happen to our children if we do not. I stand with parents, teachers and administrators in this struggle, and I am willing to participate and provide support in any way that I can.
