A Network Connecting School Leaders From Around The Globe
By one count, there are 174 elementary schools across the nation, named for Confederate generals/officials/etc. (The majority are named after Robert E. Lee.) What would you favor regarding this issue?

It’s disgusting that schools and such are named after racists and that names of Indian tribes and such are exploited. It all needs to be renamed and history books need to be changed to reflect real history, such as Columbus discovered that he was lost and tapes and killed many Native Americans | Anonymous |
No school should be named after someone who fought against the Union. | Anonymous |
If current local governments feel that it would be best to keep said names, then so be it. If they wish, the next generation could revisit the issue as needed. | Anonymous |
With all we have to be concerned about if this is your biggest issue you are in good shape. Everyone needs to stop getting "offended" and move on with your lives. If you are looking for perfection in humans you need to grow up. |

Letting it be a local decision is tad amount to allowing overt racism to continue. | Anonymous |
They all should be renamed | Anonymous |
The original name came from the local community so changes should come from them as well. A name change forced by the national government will mean nothing and probably bring with it resentment. If we want true change it has to come from the local levels as well. | Anonymous |
It is dangerous to erase history. When that occurs we are destined to relive travesties! | Anonymous |
Just as forced integration, including bussing children across town to integrate schools, has had at best-mixed results after decades of attempts, forced name changes seem superficial and not effective. We need to continue to educate our populace in a thoughtful and concerted effort from childhood through adulthood - in churches, schools, and the media - about the "rest of the story" of people of color in our nation and focus on systemic changes, not just name changes. | Anonymous |
The leftist Democrats have ruined our nation. It will backfire. | Anonymous |
Robert E Lee is part of our country’s history and worth teaching. Trained in West Point as an outstanding general who was put in a difficult situation by the leaders of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Arlington Cemetery is built on his land. You cannot erase history. | Anonymous |
