Working in an urban city school district there are many families that are non-responsive to various outreaches when it comes to instruction. To what degree is that a societal problem versus a school problem? They show up for weekly food distribution and have Chromebooks. |

Very few children have not engaged in the district where I am. We have mechanisms in place to reach out and assist with all instructional formats. |

We are fortunate that we only have a handful. The parents want to respond and appreciate our efforts to be sure their children are attending. However, as many of them tell us, they are also trying to keep their jobs. Several are also single mothers who were struggling prior to the pandemic. It is heartbreaking. We believe everyone is doing the best they can. |

Relationships and ongoing communication with families have never been more important. Support personnel can be reassigned to assist teams of teachers and reconnect students who disappear. |
