David Abrams DRAFT Regents Exam Schedule for June 2011
This memorandum is to request your feedback regarding the attached DRAFT Exam
Schedule for June 2011. Please distribute this draft schedule and memorandum to the appropriate personnel in your district(s). I ask that the draft schedule be carefully reviewed and suggestions for improvements be e-mailed to the Department at emscassessinfo@mail.nysed.gov by March 4, 2011.
Below are the Department guidelines for developing exam schedules. Suggestions will be considered as long as they adhere to the guidelines below and are received by March 4, 2011. School officials proposing a change to this schedule are asked to please provide a specific rationale about the date and session they propose. The Department is interested in any recommendation that minimizes the incidence of English language learners and students with disabilities taking more than one Regents Exam on the same day.
Thank you for your time and effort in reviewing the draft schedule.

GUIDELINES FOR DEVELOPING REGENTS EXAM SCHEDULES
•Regents Exams are not scheduled for Mondays. This is a security measure that was adopted to ensure that Regents Exams will not be stored in daily- delivery schools over weekends.
•The exams are scheduled so that most students will not have to take more than two exams on any one day. For this reason, many of the exams within the same subject area (such as science or languages other than English) are scheduled for the same session or day.
• The exams are scheduled to maximize the amount of time available for scoring. The University of the State of New York
