One in 10 middle- and high-school students report participating in digital self-harm in the past year -- the practice of cyberbullying themselves -- according to data from the 2019 Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey. It can be challenging to identify this novel behavior because of the lack of research on it, but researchers encourage school leaders to promote overall positive online behavior and work to curb bullying.
