Visitor Check-in Manually or Software?

Hello All,

My school system is looking into an automated check in system for visitors that may be in our school during the class day.  Would you please share with me how your school or system monitors who is allowed to visit classrooms, media center, lunchrooms, etc?  Is it a manual system where visitors sign in and receive a visitor's badge or are you using an electronic system?  If you are using an electronic system, how is it working out for you?
