Using Your Teaching Degree for a New Adventure

Today’s business environment has become increasingly global. People from all over the world are interacting with one another online and in person more often than in previous years. As a result, the need for people to communicate effectively has greatly increased.

English has emerged as the language of the international community in general. Understanding English is valuable for people who would like to remain in touch with an ever changing global environment.
An online teaching degree can set a foundation for an adventurous teaching career. Teaching in foreign lands can improve your own lifestyle while allowing you to earn a significant amount of money. Native English speakers who have online teaching degrees have an opportunity to live and work in several countries around the world.

The International education industry is constantly growing. The demand for high quality teachers is higher than ever. International schools are offering the opportunity for teachers to experience the richness of living and working in a totally new environment. Many schools are providing teachers with very comfortable living arrangements. They also offer the opportunity for teachers to work a less hectic schedule than they would have in their home county. Abroad, teachers can become a part of a team and to take part in unique opportunities for cultural exchange.

Language instruction classes are usually small ones that are filled with very motivated students. Interacting with these students in not difficult because most language schools equip foreign teachers with assistants who can translate communications.

Job Satisfaction
Teaching overseas is totally different from teaching in your home country. For instance, teachers in the United States have to contend with low pay. Also, it’s very common for teachers to work in overcrowded classrooms that are difficult to control. Finally, there is no room for teachers to express themselves creatively since most local teaching jobs require that you follow a predetermined curriculum without any deviation.

Conversely, international language schools are more receptive to the needs of their teachers. The accommodations provided at foreign schools are partially given because the international community in general views their teachers in high regard.

Exploring Different Countries
Of course schools vary in the amount of money they pay their teachers. But, in general Language schools pay expat teachers relatively high salaries. A foreign teacher’s salary may be three or four times the amount of money earned by locals. As a result, teachers are able to spend money on exploring their new environment. Teachers who travel abroad have the option of spending or saving the excess cash that their new teaching position creates.

Broadening Your Scope
Using your online teaching degree to work at an international school helps to expand your overall perspective on life. Living and sharing experiences with people of diverse backgrounds promotes maturity and appreciation of all cultures. The time spent outside of your home country can be spent building a solid plan for action when you return. Your international experiences will improve your interpersonal skills and allow you to flourish in a wider range of environments. Besides, time spent outside of your home country looks great to potential employers.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
