A Network Connecting School Leaders From Around The Globe
The New York State Education Department has asked Nassau BOCES to host an ESSA Part II regional meeting to engage the public in a discussion on a series of questions the Department needs to answer in order to develop recommendations for the NYS Board of Regents regarding the contents of New York’s draft ESSA plan which needs to be sent to the USDOE by September of 2017. This meeting would be a follow-up to the meeting held on October 26, 2016. The desired outcome of the meeting is for the facilitator to provide NYSED with a summary of the feedback stakeholders provided on the questions to be discussed. Participants will also be encouraged to take an on-line survey on the questions discussed at the meeting. The questions that NYSED is looking for feedback on are attached to this email.
The Nassau County regional meeting will be held at the Robert E. Lupinskie Center, located at One Merrick Avenue, Westbury, NY (View map) on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 with two sessions – one beginning at 4:00 p.m. going until 6:00 p.m. and the other beginning at 7:00 p.m. ending at 9:00 p.m. This meeting is open to the public, and we encourage superintendents, board members, district administrators, principals, teachers, parents, students and the general public to attend. Registration will be subject to space limitations. Please RSVP at essa@nasboces.org and indicate which time you would like to attend.
We encourage you to ask your students if they would like to participate as well. If you require any additional information, please give me a call.
Regards,
Bob Dillon

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource
Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and
other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching
practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
