A Network Connecting School Leaders From Around The Globe
| I have the honor of serving on the National Assessment Governing Board—the independent, nonpartisan body that oversees The Nation’s Report Card. The National Assessment Governing Board is now accepting nominations for Board positions to be filled in 2019. I strongly encourage you to apply for the Board or urge others who would be strong candidates to apply. The Governing Board is seeking nominees for the following Board categories: • Business representative • Chief state school officer • Curriculum specialist • Grade 12 teacher • Local school superintendent • State school board member • Testing and measurement expert Nominations must be submitted online by October 31, 2018. The Governing Board sets policy for the nation’s largest ongoing assessment of what U.S. students know and can do—the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also known as The Nation’s Report Card. The Board identifies assessment subjects, determines the content and achievement levels for each assessment, approves all test questions, and pursues innovative ways to make NAEP results more meaningful and relevant to the public. As a Board member, I work alongside leaders such as state lawmakers, business executives, and school administrators to improve how student achievement is measured and understood. By applying or nominating a qualified colleague for the Governing Board, you help ensure the Board continues to have diverse expert leadership in 2019 and beyond. Apply or nominate a colleague for the Board by October 31. Please consider applying for this important position that will guide the way we assess the nation’s students. SIncerely, Andrew Ho Have questions about serving on the Governing Board? Learn more about the Board’s responsibilities and the nominations process: http://bit.ly/JoinTheBoard12 |

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource
Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and
other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching
practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
