 The LI Lions Quest Initiative! 
 INTEREST MEETINGS:
 March 12th, Adelphi University, Garden City

March 15th, Western Suffolk BOCES, Wheatley Heights

NEW SITE:  April 5th, Dayton Ave. Elementary School, Manorville
- Attend a FREE interest meeting to learn how to meet the Dignity Act K-12 instruction requirement with the effective and sequential Lions Quest program.  This K-12 research based, CASEL "SELECT" program fosters civility, citizenship and character education through social and emotional skill building, bully and substance abuse prevention and service-learning activities.  These key elements of positive youth development create a truly safe and supportive learning environment and may be infused easily into any academic or health curriculum. 
 
-The interest meetings will provide an opportunity to preview the Lions Quest K-12 SEL curriculum and learn about the Spring and Fall teacher training sessions.   Schools that send 5 or more participants to the Spring training sessions (May 1 or June 14) will receive priority consideration for a generous Lions Club grant that will provide training and materials at a substantially reduced cost.  (BOCES funds may be used for the training.)  All schools on Long Island are invited to apply.

Here is the information about the Lions Quest Spring Training Sessions on May 1st and June 14th.  Register on My Learning Plan- Western Suffolk BOCES programs.  SPACE is LIMITED!
Lions Quest Skills for Growing (K-5)and Skills for Adolescence (6-8) Training Workshop
Date:  May 1, 2013 or June 14, 2013.  8:00am to 3:30 pm
Location: Western Suffolk BOCES Wheatley Heights
Learn how the Lions Quest programs address key elements of positive youth development while creating a safe and supportive learning environment for your school.  These research-based programs meet the Dignity Act's requirement for instruction in civility, citizenship and character education through social and emotional skill building, bullying and substance abuse prevention and service-learning activities.  
Lions Quest programs promote relationship-centered learning communities whose members feel valued, personally connected to one another and committed to everyone's growth and development.  Workshop participants learn how to use all program components, lesson methodologies and implementation strategies.  
Fee:  $220 per person includes breakfast, lunch and a comprehensive grade level curriculum kit (value: $120.)  
The workshop is recommended for school administrators, teachers, psychologists, social workers, and guidance counselors.
NOTE:  Schools that send 5 or more participants to this workshop will receive priorityconsideration for a 2013-14 LI Lions Club Core 4 Grant, which if approved, will providing training and materials at a substantially reduced cost for select Long Island schools.
