Teen dating violence prevention program curbs unhealthy behaviors

Middle-school students in schools that offered Dating Matters, a dating violence prevention program, had 9.8% reduced odds of being dating-violence victims, an 8.3% lower risk of perpetrating violence and a 5.5% lower likelihood of using negative conflict-resolution approaches, compared with those in schools that only had standard prevention classes, according to a study in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. Researchers found similar odds of positive relationship behaviors between both groups.
