Study: Teens with disabilities 70% more likely to be obese
University of Delaware research indicates that adolescents with a disability faced a 70% greater likelihood of being obese, and were 40% more likely to attempt to lose weight than peers without a disability. The study, presented at the American Public Health Association's annual meeting, says teens with disabilities were less likely to get at least 60 minutes of physical activity five days per week and more likely to try unhealthy weight-loss behaviors. Medscape (free registration)
