Lets talk about all these children that have Dyslexia in the fourth grade and still have to participate in the NY state test. Why should they be expected to take a fourth grade test and pass it when they are reading on a second grade level. In an integrated classroom there are 8-9 children that have an IEP. They all will fail this test and what happens to the teachers they get punished for it. Also the core curriculum keeps moving ut these children need that extra week of learning and practicing to master it so they can move on. The core has to change for these kids. They are bright they just need more repitition. Not repitition on practicing state tests REALLY,,,,

There is very little valuable information gathered from these tests. I have witnessed the torture that students experience when faced with a test on which they simply cant do well. Parents and taxpayers need to be better informed in regards to the emotional and fiscal costs of these tests.
